Bollywood witnessed cinematic history on July 3, 2025, when director Nitesh Tiwari and producer Namit Malhotra unveiled the first official glimpse of Ramayana: The Introduction at Mumbai’s PVR Palladium. With a jaw-dropping teaser featuring Ranbir Kapoor as Lord Rama, Sai Pallavi as Goddess Sita, and Kannada superstar Yash as the formidable Ravana, the film has instantly become one of the most talked-about projects in the country. In sweet gesture, Alia Bhatt took to her Instagram to share her husband Ranbir Kapoor's first glipmse from Ramayana.

Slated for a grand Diwali 2026 release, this ₹835-crore epic is not just another Bollywood mythological film—it is being hailed as the biggest and boldest attempt to bring the timeless Indian epic to life with cutting-edge visual effects and an all-star creative team.

A Visual Spectacle Designed for IMAX

The 3-minute teaser, revealed before an exclusive audience, showcased breathtaking visuals powered by Oscar-winning VFX house DNEG and shot entirely for IMAX viewing. Namit Malhotra, the producer behind Dune and The Dark Knight, has brought his global expertise to this ambitious project through Prime Focus Studios and Monster Mind Creations.

Namit called Ramayana “our truth, our history,” underlining the cultural importance of the project. Nitesh Tiwari, known for Dangal and Chhichhore, added, “This is for every generation,” emphasizing that the story is being told with reverence but also relevance.

Star Power: Ranbir Kapoor, Sai Pallavi, Yash

Ranbir Kapoor’s transformation into the serene yet powerful Lord Rama has stunned fans. The actor, fresh off his blockbuster Animal, sports long locks, regal blue attire, and a composed yet intense presence. Sai Pallavi, known for her naturalistic performances, brings grace and divinity to the role of Sita, while Yash—of KGF fame—looks menacing as Ravana, promising an epic showdown.

The casting choices reflect the team’s vision of blending pan-India appeal with artistic integrity.

Musical Legends: AR Rahman & Hans Zimmer

In a first-of-its-kind collaboration, Academy Award winner AR Rahman and Hollywood legend Hans Zimmer are composing the soundtrack and background score. This East-meets-West musical blend is expected to elevate the mythological grandeur to global standards.
